Welcome to Greene King
A Partnership built on People.
In 1799, a certain Benjamin Greene moved to the bustling town of Bury St Edmunds to establish his own brewing business. In 1806, he entered into partnership with William Buck, an elderly yarn-maker, to acquire the 100-year old Wright’s Brewery in Westgate. Benjamin and William began brewing exceptional ales together - and the rest is history.
The Greene King company headquarters remain in Bury St Edmunds, but since then we have become one of the UK’s leading pub retailer and brewers, listed in the FTSE 250 - with over 3,000 managed and tenanted pubs and hotels around the UK, ranging from city centre pubs to traditional coaching inns.
People are at the heart of our many achievements and we believe in doing the best for our customers and our colleagues. Wherever you look in Greene King, you’ll see great working relationships in action, in a business that provides outstanding support - and passionate belief in six key values: Customer Focus, Results, Execution, Honesty, Courage and Respect.
