| Calling bar managers of the future for a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the UK’s leading bar groups Pitcher & Piano (P&P) is looking for dynamic, talented and fun-loving individuals to manage their expanding portfolio of bars. They currently have 26 P&P bars throughout the UK, and more than half a dozen new venues planned this year. The company recognise that the key to growth is investment in their people and are therefore keen to speak to candidates with leadership potential to drive the brand forward. And you don’t need years of industry experience to apply – the most important attributes are the right attitude and a genuine passion for creating the best bar atmosphere! Successful applicants will receive the best possible training through their industry-leading management development programme ‘The Academy’. The scheme offers trainees a great combination of practical experience, personal development and management skills through dedicated training including shadowing existing GM’s, a week with other trainees at Brathay Hall in the Lake District and even a stint with the Territorial Army. It gives managers the best opportunities to grow as individuals while becoming ambassadors for their brand. And the commitment to their staff doesn’t stop there – outstanding performances are rewarded by the chance to study successful global business models, such as a trip to understand the Disney approach to quality service in Florida, while ‘The Ambassadors’ programme allows individuals to champion a category such as cocktails or spirits and attend training courses or travel overseas for research. In addition, regular sales incentives, which are open to all staff, have sent winners to New Zealand, South Africa and Jamaica among other places. This combined with a generous holiday allowance, pension plan, life assurance, health cover and medical insurance really makes P&P stand out. Add to that a bonus scheme, share incentives and a £2,000 tax-free reward for highlighting new sites and you will see they mean business. Beth Evans, GM at one of P&P’s newest sites in Exeter has shown exactly what is possible with the right attitude and the support of the group. Beth joined three years ago from a 9-5 office job. She quickly rose through the ranks, achieving her first GM role in Southampton after only 18 months and moving to Exeter this spring to launch the new site. She said: “Only three years ago I was sat behind a desk trying to work out what made me tick. Then one night, I was out in a P&P with friends and realised that I wanted to be on the other side of the bar. Since then I haven’t looked back. “Nothing can fully prepare you for the challenges you will face as a manager, but similarly you can only appreciate the real buzz you get from this role by living it for yourself. And the great support network available means you will always have the confidence you need in your own abilities to succeed.” Have you found what you were looking for? | ||
