Who are we?

We are Derby’s local brewer with an award winning beer across every Beer Style, a family run craft business with over 30 years brewing expertise in producing handcrafted premium real ales. We see a growing pub estate as a crucial part of our growth plans, to date we have acquired and fully renovated three pubs winning numerous awards and have now open the Kedleston Country House.

We are passionate about quality and individuality, each of our venues are individual with their own style, drink and food offering. Our current venues include a specialist drinks pub (The Tap), a quirky city centre venue (Greyhound) focused around craft beer and street food and a destination cosy village pub (Queens Head) focused around great drinks and tasty Gastro style food plus our latest venue the Kedleston Country House, a boutique hotel, restaurant, bar and wedding venue.  

Across all our pubs we are passionate about food and drinks selection we only sell the finest drinks and produce the best homemade food, which is made from scratch using the finest locally sourced ingredients.  

The Queens Head is a cosy village pub, offering great gastro food with excellent service and a extensive drinks selection. A friendly team, who love to look after their customers.

The role

As the Assistant Manager of The Queens Head, you will be responsible for assisting the manager in all aspects of the day to day running of any successful pub, including cellar work, setting rota’s, ordering, taking deliveries, back office & bar work. You will be part of the management team of Bar Manager, Assistant Manager and Bar Supervisor. In addition you will be involved in helping decide the strategic direction of the site in conjunction with the company directors.

An experienced Assistant Manager who is enthusiastic & passionate about what they do. A hard working motivated and committed individual, with attention to detail, who thrives in a busy food led business. A great people person with excellent communication skills, hands on, visible and capable of leading and inspiring a team from the front. A passion for quality, initiative & a good sense of humour are all vital & of course a love of beers, wines & spirits & great food.    

Responsibilities of the role

Day to day running and input into the strategic direction of the business using initiative to ensure the business meets its full potential. It is essential that you help develop staff through the business, working alongside the bar manager this will form an important part of your role. Any applicant must always embody the standards for the outlet and strong knowledge and experience in real ale management, numeracy skills and IT literacy are fundamental to the role.

Hours of work

Due to the nature of the business the candidate must be flexible in terms of hours which will include evening and weekend work.
