Job Details

Management Couple - The Brigadier Gerard, York

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed local couple to run the Brigadier Gerard.  This was opened as a new pub by Samuel Smiths about 35 years ago and is currently being fully refurbished.  The Brigadier Gerard is called after the racehorse whose only defeat was by Mill Reef at York. There are not many pubs serving the nearby local community including the Groves Estate. The pub is situated in a prominent position quite close to Monk Bar and has a good car park and a trade kitchen for serving a home-made Sunday roast and a branded menu.

There is a 3 bedroomed flat in excellent order on the first floor.

We are looking for people with the following skills:

  • Positivity and enthusiasm. We want people who love 'hosting the party', creating an infectiously good atmosphere in the pub and making it the centre of the local community with pub games, teams, quizzes, bingo and similar social activities in a games room and a lounge
  • Determination to maintain an immaculately clean pub
  • Take pride in serving Samuel Smiths full range of beers, including wooden cask Old Brewery Bitter, at their best.

If you feel you have these attributes then we'd love to speak to you. To successful applicants we will give the following benefits:

  • Free three bedroom well maintained flat (above the pub)
  • No commute to work saving you time and money
  • Free utility bills
  • Salary and potential bonus
  • Full training so previous experience is not essential

This is a great opportunity for a couple who are excited by the opportunity of working together running a fine, fully refurbished locals pub a short walk from the centre of York.
