Pub Tenancy - Ship Inn - Retford

The Ship Inn was built in 1901 and is located a brief 2 minute walk from the centre of Retford. This attractive 2 storey building is in excellent condition throughout, offering an open plan bar area and is split over 2 levels with feature log burner. The lower room is used for pub games and entertainment which leads onto the large outside drinking courtyard with outbuildings, which are currently undergoing conversion into a self-contained restaurant.  In addition there is a lounge bar with 24 covers, which is currently used as a dining and function room, but which could easily revert to being a traditional lounge. Brief description of the present trading environment

The Ship Inn was known as the Rum Runner until the summer of 2017 when a major refurbishment was undertaken to restore the pub to its former glories under its original name, the Ship Inn. The Ship is a community locals’ pub, situated in a largely residential area. The retail offer is focussed on quality cask ales, with cask marque accreditation and an excellent large cellar. There is a good sized well equipped catering kitchen which was also totally upgraded in 2017. The lower area is ideal for live entertainment and pub games, and the large courtyard was also upgraded to suit alfresco drinking and dining as well as watching entertainment. The former microbrewery outbuildings have been partially converted to a self-contained restaurant, and it is planned to complete this renovation once a new business owner is appointed.

The cost of taking the pub on is £16,500, plus stock at valuation, valuation fees and working capital.

Experience and qualities to be demonstrated by the successful applicant
