Assistant General Manager

We are recruiting an Assistant General Manager!

 

As an Assistant General Manager at NWTC, this is your first step into a senior management position.. You’re already an expert in all things in the restaurant and Bar departments and you're now ready to lead a team of Department Managers, winning hearts and minds along the way.

You will balance your time between managing the Restaurant and Bar Managers and also working closely with the Senior Kitchen team to learn as much as possible. An AGM is the ultimate people role where you take on the responsibility of appraisals, 1:1 meetings, HR issues and recruitment. The better you manage your people, the easier the business is to run. Always remember this. 

An AGM is a go-to person for the whole team and so all queries, questions and issues come directly to you. The overall strategy and vision come from your General Manager and it is up to you do execute this perfectly in their vision. Using the skills you learnt running your specific department you will lead the Duty Managers and trust them to deliver their targets, tracking their performance and helping them to succeed. You will actively upskill yourself in the inner workings of the business such as financial responsibility. You will deputise for the GM in their absence, leading by example at all times with a positive and upbeat attitude and ensuring all company guidelines are followed stringently.

Your communication skills are excellent and you will use this to your advantage running shifts with multiple departments and also when engaging with our guests (you really love our guests!) Once you have nailed the people aspect of your business and have a proven track record in exceeding in your sites financial performance, it will be time for you to start looking at the General Manager position. Remember, you are only as good as the people in your team so make sure you have someone ready to fill your shoes!

 

 

Responsibilities

• Ensure every guest interaction is ultra positive and with the intention of getting them to have a return visit
• Undertake all Duty Manager responsibilities where relevant/needed        
• Ensure your Duty Managers have an up to date Talent Pipeline for their departments with training needs and succession plans
• Hold monthly reviews with all Department Managers reporting to you to ensure all KPI’s are being achieved. Report each meeting to GM
• Manage monthly results from Department manager KPI’s
• Manage customer satisfaction regularly using the tools available, ensuring all guest feedback is dealt with in a professional and efficient manner.
• Alongside the General Manager, conduct probation's and appraisals to monitor full team performance and development.
• Track team turnover monthly and ensure it stays below the company target.
• Ensure Recruitment processes are adhered to at all times including all paperwork and onboarding process for new starters.
• Create and maintain a safe and comfortable working environment for all staff to flourish in.
• Ensure staff records are kept up to date with training, absences, lateness, holidays etc.
• Manage the results from all departmental Health Checks to ensure actions plans are being worked on.
