You’ll be someone who can think outside of the box and capitalise on every aspect of this beautiful pub business. The Pickering pub needs an operator with strong leadership skills who can drive sales and provide superb service. You’ll also have the savvy financial skills and business acumen to maximise all opportunities.

Excellent hosting skills are crucial, as this is a busy village local and destination pub. Guests migrate here to make memories and catch up on local gossip. You’ll be adept at running a busy kitchen and happy to jump in when needed, becoming known for serving exceptional pints, with standards that are second to none throughout the pub. You’ll be passionate about coaching your team and able to attract like-minded professionals to join them. We need someone who will plan for all the big occasions, getting stuck into the detail. Understanding the local life is essential. You’ll be at the heart of village life and be proud of the tight-knit community you serve.

The pub and area

Situated in the idyllic village of Thelwall, The Pickering Arms dates from the 16th century. The interior comes laden with period charm – warm, cosy colours, low beams, exposed stone walls and open fires. You’ll capitalise on a well-loved menu featuring classic dishes and the traditional Sunday Roast! You’ll also take advantage of the flexible interior space to host diverse events and ample parking.

The ideal partner will market the wide range of cask ales, wines at sensible prices and premium spirits. They’ll showcase the extensive garden terrace, perfect for relaxing, having a party or simply enjoying ‘al fresco’ drinking and dining. Plus, the 'all singing, all dancing' catering kitchen helps support high volume servings during the summer months.

The Pickering is the hub of the village and is a popular stop-off spot for dog walkers and ramblers, attracting many visitors during the summer months.
